Information on high quality ventilation systems

Photos of built houses
Our main emphasis is energy-efficiency and here our Swedish building methods and traditions play a large role. High levels of insulation and an airtight building envelope in conjunction with ventilation heat-recovery systems and triple glazed low-emission-argon filled glass are important factors. The standard houses used to be "LOW-ENERGY" houses, meaning that they use only small amounts of energy for heating. Since 2006 most houses are built to fully "PASSIVE-STANDARDS". The passive upgrade option was made available in 2004. This is the strictest energy performance standard in the world. The passive heat from the inhabitants and their activities in the house provide a large part of the heat required to maintain a comfortable interior temperature. These types of houses are sometimes referred to as "BODY-HEAT HOUSES". Contact Scandinavian Homes for further information.

Another concern is to provide a healthy and environmentally friendly house- both for the occupants and for the environment in general. To achieve this we use both simple natural materials and modern components taking advantage of the latest Swedish research on timber housing. Together with our customers, we design the house using our standard modular system. We always strive to maximize the passive-solar heating through our triple glazed windows while taking into account the local wind, rain and other climatic conditions.

Large, open-plan designs, that give a luxurious feeling of space are easily achieved as the energy efficiency of the entire house makes such large areas possible to heat at all times.Scandinavian Homes builds the highly insulated concrete foundation complete with under-floor heating and erects the insulated shell with roof, windows & doors. Other components such as water-saving taps, direct- pressure water-heater, ventilation heat-recovery system and timber floors are also usually supplied. See our pricelist to find out what is included in the Scandinavian Homes undertaking, and what you need to arrange yourself.
Most customers prefer the timber exterior. In some locations it may be desirable to choose the plastered exterior option. This means that the external timber panel is replaced with a fiber-cement board that is plastered with a silicone-silicate colored-through plaster system. This solution works as well as the timber cladding, but the wall looks like a conventional plastered wall.
